Electrician website design: which pages bring calls, based on US search data

Updated: October 02, 2026

An electrician website with a lightning bolt and a call button

An electrician's website needs two kinds of pages: job pages for people ready to hire (emergency repairs, panel replacement, EV chargers, ceiling fans) and answer pages for people still deciding (whole-house generators, surge protectors). US search data shows the split clearly: "whole house generator" gets about 40,500 searches a month, but only 720 of them add "near me".

What homeowners search for

Monthly US Google searches for common electrical jobs, as the bare term and with "near me", and the average click price advertisers paid on the bare term. Source: Google Ads averages for the US, pulled October 2, 2026 via the DataForSEO API. The numbers are rounded by Google and are estimates; searches with a city name are extra.

Job pages: for people ready to hire

The terms where "near me" is a large share of the searches belong on pages built to get a call:

  • Emergency electrician is the only job in the table where "near me" searches match the bare term (12,100 each), and its click price is the highest, $42.66. Someone with sparking outlets or a dead circuit wants a number, not an article.
  • Generator installation (8,100 plus 5,400 "near me") is the hiring term behind the big generator research numbers. It needs its own page, separate from any generator buying guide.
  • Ceiling fan installation and EV charger installation each pass 14,000 searches with several thousand "near me". Both are clear, priced jobs that homeowners book from a page.

Use the homeowner's words in headings. "Electrical panel replacement" is searched 5,400 times a month; "panel upgrade", the trade's usual phrase, only 1,600. Put the technical terms (amperage, service size) in the body.

Answer pages: for people still deciding

Whole-house generators and surge protectors draw tens of thousands of searches with very few "near me" additions and low click prices ($5.96 and $1.34). Those readers are comparing products, sizes and costs. A page that answers their questions honestly (what size a typical house needs, what installation involves, whether a permit is needed where you work) puts your company in front of them before they pick an installer, and ends with the link to your installation page.

What every page has to show

Local results on Google depend mainly on relevance, distance and how well known the business is (Google Business Profile Help). Your pages can't change distance, but they decide relevance:

  • One job per page, named with the town: "EV charger installation in Raleigh, NC", not "Our services".
  • Your state license number in the page footer and next to the call button, with a note that you are insured. Most states license electrical contractors, and a homeowner who looks for the number should find it in seconds.
  • Who pulls the permit and books the inspection. Many electrical jobs need both; saying you handle them removes a reason to hesitate.
  • Real reviews, linked to your Google profile. Buying, faking or selectively hiding reviews is off limits; since 2024 the FTC can seek civil penalties for fake reviews (FTC).
  • A call button that works with one thumb, plus a short form for jobs that can wait, such as lighting or a fan.
  • Speed on a phone. Google rates a page as good when its main content appears within 2.5 seconds, a tap gets a response within 200 milliseconds, and the layout barely moves, a shift score below 0.1 (Google Search Central).

Add structured data so search engines read your name, address, phone and hours directly. Google documents it for local businesses (Google Search Central), and schema.org defines an Electrician type. Keep every detail identical to your Google Business Profile.

Paying for the website

Electricians usually choose between doing it themselves on a site builder, paying an agency every month, or paying once for a finished site. With a monthly plan, multiply the fee by 24 to see what two years cost. Our build is a one-time $3,900, live in seven days, with job pages, a tap-to-call path and structured data included; hosting and the optional growth bundle are quoted separately before work starts.

The website among your lead channels

Calls from your own site carry no fee per lead.
