Is Angi worth it for contractors? Work out your cost per won job

Updated: October 01, 2026

Angi is worth it for a contractor when the cost per won job, meaning all lead fees and any membership divided by the jobs you actually won, stays well below the profit those jobs leave you. The price per lead alone can't tell you that, because Angi sends each request to several pros and you pay whether or not you win the job. The calculator below works it out from your own numbers.

How Angi Leads charges, in its own words

Angi's FAQ for service professionals (Angi Leads: Service Professional FAQ's) is published on HomeAdvisor's pro site and now carries the Angi Leads name, so this covers HomeAdvisor leads too. It says:

  • You pay per lead. You specify the type of work you do and the area you serve, and you pay a fee for each lead you match to. Different sized jobs have different lead fees. No price list is published; the FAQ gives a phone number to ask.
  • Each request goes to several pros. Angi Leads uses the customer's request to connect them with multiple service professionals. The customer then chooses, based on ratings, reviews and other information.
  • No volume promise. Asked how much work to expect, the FAQ commits to no number. Broader work preferences bring more leads.
  • You can pause. You can turn the service on or off at any time in your profile.

Angi's pro sign-up page advertises "over 1.5M opportunities on Angi last month" and asks you to start sign-up, again without a rate card.

Lead cost calculator: what does one won job cost you?

Enter your own numbers from your Thumbtack, Angi or other lead account. The calculator shows what you pay per job you actually won, not per lead.

Count every lead you were charged for.

Total lead charges ÷ number of leads, from your payment history.

Only jobs that actually went ahead.

Leave 0 if your platform charges per lead only.

Enter your average price per lead to see your cost per won job.

The other model: an exclusive local lead site. One business per trade per metro, so every enquiry goes to you alone and no one else is quoting on it.

Ask whether your trade is open in your metro

A calculation aid with your own numbers. We publish no platform prices and make no claims about any platform's lead quality.

What to ask before you sign

Because no prices are published, get these answers in writing for your trade and ZIP codes:

  1. What is the lead fee range for my services and area?
  2. Is there a membership or annual fee on top of lead fees?
  3. How many pros receive the same request?
  4. Which leads can be credited (wrong number, outside my area, duplicate), and how do I ask?
  5. How long is the agreement, and what does it cost to leave early?

Then enter the lead fee in the calculator as the price per lead, and any membership spread over the months as the monthly fee.

Reading your result

Compare the cost per won job with what a typical job leaves you after materials and labor. If it takes a small slice, Angi is doing its job for that service. If it takes most of it, you are paying mainly for introductions that went to someone else.

Two things move the number on the platform itself: narrower work preferences, so you only pay for jobs you want, and speed, because several pros got the same request. Track the result by service. Your cost per won job for a water heater can look very different from your cost for a remodel.

Angi, Thumbtack and owned leads

Thumbtack also charges per lead, but you set your own lead prices there. Compare both with Is Thumbtack (or Angi) worth it? and how much Thumbtack charges for leads. For sources where the customer comes to you alone, see Thumbtack and Angi alternatives and contractor leads by trade.
